Music is something to share, to talk about, and occasionally ram down other people's throats. This is a blog that does all of that.

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one.

In all the Lennon tributes over the years, I think the best one was done by George Harrison in his song "All Those Years Ago," released six months after Lennon's death.

I’m shouting all about love
While they treated you like a dog
When you were the one who had made it so clear
All those years ago.
I’m talking all about how to give
They don’t act with much honesty
But you point the way to the truth when you say
All you need is love.
Living with good and bad
I always look up to you
Now we’re left cold and sad
By someone the devil’s best friend
Someone who offended all.
We’re living in a bad dream
They’ve forgotten all about mankind
And you were the one they backed up to the wall
All those years ago
You were the one who imagined it all
All those years ago.
They’ve forgotten all about God
He’s the only reason we exist
Yet you were the one that they said was so weird
All those years ago
You said it all, though not many had ears
All those years ago
You had control of our smiles and our tears
All those years ago

"All Those Years Ago" is one of my favorite George Harrison songs but I have to admit that I never knew all the lyrics. Now I do...thanks.

I've read many articles today that mention, like JFK's assassination, if you are old enough to remember when Lennon was killed, you remember exactly what you were doing when you first heard the news. I was an 11-year-old fascinated by all things Beatles since I was about 4. I remember eating breakfast on what must have been the morning of the 9th and listening to the radio with my mom and sister before having to leave for school. Before long, the DJ mentioned the shooting. I immediately looked to my mother for confirmation because, like so many, I didn't believe what I'd heard. I didn't understand why anyone would want to hurt a Beatle. My mother answered my questions that best she could before we had to leave for the school bus. It's hard to believe it was 25 years ago.
